Starting to piece the world trip together

We haven’t actually begun planning our world trip in any detail yet, but we have got a plan which is going to help us get started. We both have a a few countries in our heads which we’d like to visit, but we’re going to start by putting together a list of friends and family living in foreign countries. Whilst this wont be the definite list of places we will visit, we think it will help form the backbone of our world trip. Can’t beat free accommodation and a friendly face.

This is just a short post to let you know our intentions, and I’ll post back once we’ve got something more solid pieced together. Any feedback or advice on trip planning would be much appreciated at this stage.

Hey, good luck with the planning. We started our trip last week with our 4.5yr old and 2.5yr old. We are currently in Asia and planning on being overseas for a year or two. No fixed travel plans at the moment – just taking things slow to see what pace the kids can handle. Lucky you having friends and family abroad to stay with! Don’t have too many tips for you so far other than start slowly – after 10 days our kids are exhausted. They have travelled before and we haven’t really done anything in the last few days – but the staying up a bit later each night, not having a real home, new sights and foods, and always having to go out to eat has really taken a toll on them. We’re going to find a house to rent for a month to give them time to adjust. So I would suggest starting your holiday slowly – don’t have too many fixed plans at the start in case you need to just slow down and rent somewhere for a few weeks until your son adjusts. Happy planning for your trip. Its so hard to plan with a toddler – there’s not much info out there on travelling with little kids other than staying in nice resorts which is just not possible when travelling long term. Will have a blog up and running in a few weeks if you want the details. Tracy

    Hi Tracy,

Thanks for commenting on my blog :) I’ll definitely follow your progress if you can get a blog up and running. I’d love to hear about your experiences, I’m sure it would really help us plan our world trip.

I wish you all the best on your own trip.

    Blue Skies!

    Matt
